Fold-and-Slot Mini Book Workshop
See more product details on Facebook
Use without printing: Read the workshop guide and story page-order maps on screen, then plan your own miniature story in a notes or drawing app. For a handmade book, measure and draw the blank master layout on ordinary paper using the stated dimensions before following the folding instructions. The printed illustrated masters and duplex test are optional for this hand-drawn route; paper, measuring and cutting supplies are still needed.
Make three miniature books that open in three different ways. Begin with a one-sheet slit-fold zine, build a six-panel accordion, then interlock two sheets into a slot book. Three original illustrated stories let you learn each structure before using the matching blank masters for your own writing and drawings.
Digital printable download only. You receive one ZIP with eight PDFs, a README, personal-use license and file checksums. No physical books, printing or craft supplies are included.
Three complete projects
The Lantern That Stayed: an eight-page slit-fold zine, including covers. One sheet; finished size 2.5 × 3.5 inches (63.5 × 88.9 mm).
The Long Way Home: a six-panel accordion with a glued joining tab. Four story panels plus front and back covers; the reverse is blank. Closed size 2.5 × 3 inches (63.5 × 76.2 mm); opens to 15 inches (381 mm).
The Map of Small Sounds: a two-sheet interlocking slot book with eight pages, including covers. Finished size 3 × 4 inches (76.2 × 101.6 mm).
What is in the ZIP?
Choose US Letter or A4. Each paper-size edition contains the same four PDFs: a 9-page illustrated workshop guide, 6 pages of story masters, 6 pages of matching blank masters, and a 2-page duplex feed test. That is 23 PDF pages per paper edition, 46 across all eight PDFs. Alternate paper sizes, blank companions and test pages do not add extra project designs.
The guide includes actual-size calibration checks, cutting and folding diagrams, page-order maps, manual-feed guidance, a story planner and troubleshooting. The PDFs are printable files, not editable forms. No other product purchase is needed.
Bring ordinary supplies
You will need a printer, flexible plain paper around 75–100 gsm, scissors, a ruler, a pencil and a glue stick for the accordion join. No staples, needle, thread or craft knife are needed. An adult should help younger makers with scissors and make interior slit cuts. Use the illustrated folded-edge cutting method rather than poking holes.
Print and make
Print at Actual Size / 100% and check the calibration lines first. The masters are already landscape and in folding order. Zine and accordion masters print one-sided. The slot book requires two double-sided sheets; print the included feed test first and follow the short-edge flip or manual-feed instructions. Do not duplex the whole master PDF from page 1.
All three supplied stories use four project sheets total, plus one additional duplex test sheet. Printing both paper-size editions is unnecessary. Color is optional; the line patterns and labels also work in grayscale.
Preview and testing notes
The first image shows actual cover excerpts from the story masters. The other gallery images show complete included pages. Files have been digitally checked for dimensions, layout and page order. A physical print-and-fold test has not been performed. Printer registration, paper stiffness and folding accuracy can affect the result; begin with the calibration and feed checks.
Personal-use license
One purchaser may print copies for their own private, noncommercial use and gatherings. Participants may keep their completed paper books. Your own original stories and artwork remain yours. Do not resell the kit, redistribute its digital files or unfinished blank templates, post them publicly, or claim the original kit design as your own. See the included LICENSE.txt for full terms and contact the seller about uses beyond this license.
